Turning the Great Resignation
into Great Opportunity

In November, 4.5 million people left their jobs, a million more than in any month before the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. The changing economy and workforce is having a disproportionate effect on women: 1.1 million women who left the labor force in February 2020 have yet to return. But with the “Great Resignation” comes great opportunity to reflect upon and reshape our workplace policies and culture.

The Purple Campaign and Harvard Law School Executive Education hosted a two-day interactive policy design workshop to share and solicit input on reforms to address workplace harassment and attract and retain top talent in this unprecedented moment.

MARCH 2021

The New World of Work

The Purple Campaign and Harvard Law School Executive Education convened nearly 70 industry leaders and experts for a virtual two-day workshop to address harassment in the new world of work.

The COVID-19 pandemic presented many challenges for industry leaders as traditional workplace norms and expectations shifted to accommodate the new world employees were operating in. Business leaders, legal scholars, activists, advocates, and researchers came together for a virtual experience to share about emerging trends, policies, and practices aimed at preventing and responding to workplace harassment in its new forms.

In partnership with the Urban Institute, National Sexual Violence Resource Center (NSVRC), and RALIANCE, the Purple Campaign created a report that identifies emerging trends in addressing workplace harassment and summarizes the key takeaways from the two-day workshop.
